Shoetypes in the 13th century

It is hard to find a short summary for shoes in medieval reenactement. So I started a project last year where I crated a one-pager for each shoetype of the 13th century which I knew off. Every one-pager includes:

  • short description of the shoe
  • multiple finds including dating and the resources
  • short description of the finds from each location
  • pictures (either as sketch or with real world examples)

For the sake of a short summary, the list of the finds are not complete but include different locations from different countries. Now it should be easy for everyone to find a shoe to their liking: including dating and finds for cross referencing. The naming scheme used in those one-pagers was developed by Dr. Marquita Volken1. Currently the one-pagers are only available in german language. But I am translating all of them. It just takes some time.
